Feasting and cuisine is a crucial component of defining culture. Specifically regarding the sharing of meals, I believe that this act creates a truly intimate space meant to bring people together. We can see the act of ritual feasting at the center of cultures dating back to ancient civilizations.
For me, a key part of feasting comes from the Bible where we can see the importance of dining and meals on countless of occasions especially with Jesus and the disciples. Coupled with my Asian heritage, I hope to bring these two significant parts of my life within the painting to convey the warmth, joy, and inviting aspects of sharing an abundance of food with loved ones.
